LICENSED CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Melissa Liddle, licensed clinical psychologist at AHead Wellness

Dr. Melissa Liddle works with children, teens, and young adults, specializing in supporting neurodiverse individuals — including those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and ADHD — as well as those navigating chronic medical conditions and developmental differences.

MY APPROACH

“I’m passionate about providing neurodiversity-affirming care that recognizes and builds on each individual's unique strengths, interests, and ways of experiencing the world.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and family-centered.

My focus is helping children, adolescents, and young adults feel understood, supported, and empowered.”

Supporting life's transitions

A central part of Dr. Liddle's work is helping adolescents and young adults navigate life's transitions with greater confidence and support. She works closely with individuals as they move into young adulthood and face challenges such as increasing independence, changes in relationships, college or career transitions, identity development, self-advocacy, executive functioning demands, and adjusting to new responsibilities or diagnoses. She strives to create a supportive space where individuals can better understand themselves, build coping skills, and feel more confident navigating change.

Areas of focus

Dr. Liddle works with individuals experiencing worry, anxiety, and depression; challenges with focus, organization, and follow-through; social difficulties and relationship changes; emotional regulation; adjustment to a new diagnosis; and navigating ongoing medical treatment. She uses evidence-based approaches — including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) — while tailoring care to each individual's needs, communication style, and strengths.

Background & training

Before becoming a psychologist, Dr. Liddle spent 14 years working as a child life specialist and recreation therapist in inpatient psychiatric and medical settings at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. This experience gives her a deep understanding of the emotional, developmental, and practical challenges that children and families may face in both medical and everyday settings.

Dr. Liddle earned her bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy with a minor in Psychology from Indiana University. She completed her master's and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology at Xavier University, where she specialized in the psychological care of children and adolescents. She also completed advanced clinical training at the University of Miami's Mailman Center for Child Development and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, with specialized experience supporting adolescents on the autism spectrum.

Outside the office

Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Liddle enjoys staying active and spending time with the people and activities that bring her joy. She enjoys playing tennis, being outdoors, traveling, and spending time with her dog and extended family. She values balance, connection, and meaningful relationships — and brings that same warmth and authenticity into her work with patients and families.
